Nygaards on Right Path with Ocean Knight

When Erik and Pavla Nygaard got serious about entering the Thoroughbred business, one of the first horses they bought was a Florida-bred Stormy Atlantic filly at the 2007 Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s select 2-year old sale. While the filly, named Ocean Goddess, earned $111,144 on the track after a purchase price of $270,000 and didn't exactly set the world afire, her first foal has certainly turned some heads.  Read More...

When we sold a homebred colt yearling by Quality Road out of Inventive at the 2015 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July sale, we knew that buyers Eddie Woods and Pete Bradley would do a great job preparing the colt for the 2 year old sale. And they did, reselling him for $435,000 to Bob Baffert who bought him for Kaleem Shah. Ocean Knight ran second in a return allowance race at Saratoga on August 8th. A few hours later, his little brother, our homebred colt by Pioneerofthe Nile and out of Ocean Goddess, was selling a few blocks away and lit up the board at $950,000 when he sold to a partnership between Stonestreet Stables and Coolmore. Rolex Kentucky Organizer Not To Expand To OJC for 2017

Talks regarding the change in ownership and management of the November 3-day event were concluded without coming to mutually workable terms. As a result, the 2016 November event continues to be owned and managed by Equiventures Inc., with OJC continuing as the host venue and the title sponsor of this inaugural event.  

Cross Country Course On Track for Event

Mike Etherington-Smith, the 3* cross-country course designer at the Ocala Jockey Club, was onsite in September from England to inspect the course, joined by Clayton Fredericks, the 1* and 2* course designer and Tyson Rementer and his build team. Two Yearlings Sold for over $400,000 each at Saratoga

Two of our homebreds sold well at the premiere yearling sale in Saratoga. A filly, by Lemon Drop Kid, out of Singita (in photo, by Barbara Livingston), brought $450,000. A colt, by Smart Strike, out of Rigoletta, brought $410,000.
